EDUC 240 - Students with Disabilities in SchoolsLecture - Lab - Credit Hours: 3-0-3 A survey course that presents the historical, philosophical and legal foundations of special education, as well as an overview of the characteristics of individuals with disabilites, the programs that serve them under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and the diversity of the population of Individuals with disabilities. 15 - 30 hours of classroom observation and community service are required. Students must obtain a criminal fingerprint background check upon enrolling in this course.Prerequisite: PSYC 210 , which may be taken concurrently and placement into ENG
101 or minimum grade “C” in ENG 099 and ENG 021 or in ENG 095 /ENG 096 .
