NURS 103 - Client Assessment

Lecture - Lab - Credit Hours: 2.5-1-3
This course focuses on techniques of a head-to-toe physical assessment utilized in the assessment phase of the nursing process. Emphasis is given to the development of physical assessment skills, interpretation and written description of normal findings, as well as utilization of the diagnostic process to identify defining characteristics of related nursing diagnoses. Content includes a holistic approach and variations of the pediatric and aging clients. Students practice head-to-toe assessment on each other, utilizing techniques of interview, inspection (including use of ophthalmoscope and otoscope), palpation, percussion, and auscultation during each class session.Prerequisite: NURS 140  and NURS 150 . Open to LPNs and RNs.
