ENG 204 - Introduction to Literature

This class studies conventions and characteristics of fiction, drama, and poetry.  Students study terminology and literary concepts in order to interpret, analyze, and critically evaluate literary works from all three genres.  In addition, they study critical reading strategies, literary criticism, and an expanding literary canon that encompasses the work of culturally diverse writers - including a classic piece from Greek or Shakespearean theater. Prerequisite: “C” or better in English 101 or consent of instructor.
