CHEM 102 - General Chemistry II

This course is the second semester of a two-semester course in general chemistry intended for students majoring in chemistry, physics, biology, engineering, pre-dentistry, pre-medicine, pre-pharmacy, pre-veterinary medicine, or anyone planning to take two years of chemistry. The course content includes thermodynamics, kinetics, acid base theory, equilibrium, redox reactions, electrochemistry, spectroscopy and bonding of coordination compounds, and topics in descriptive inorganic chemistry and nuclear chemistry. Laboratory complements these topics and includes qualitative analysis of inorganic materials. Students who are pregnant or may become pregnant during the course of the semester are strongly advised to consult their doctor before enrolling in this course.Prerequisite: Minimum grade “C” in CHEM 101 ; and placement into ENG 101 , or minimum grade “C” in ENG 021  and ENG 099 , or in ENG 096 ; and appropriate placement score or minimum grade “C” in MATH 138 .
