SOC 240 - Introduction to Comparative Religion

Introduction to the comparative study of major religious traditions from primal to modern.  Included is an overview of classical religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Islam, Judaism, and Christianity.  Attention is also given to social forces affecting religion and religion’s impact on individuals and society. Prerequisite(s): Placement testing into ENG 101  or minimum grade “C” in one of the following: ENG 021  and ENG 099  ; ENG 022  and ENG 099  ; or the EAP course sequence ENG 079  and ENG 089  ; or ENG 096  .
