CDEV 101 - Introduction to Early Childhood Education

This course is designed as an overview of early childhood care and education, including historical and cultural perspectives, structure, organization and programming. Examination of the student’s personal qualities in relationship to expectations of the field is addressed throughout the course. A field experience component of 20 contact hours of direct observation in a variety of diverse early childhood settings is required to examine and apply evidence based practices.  Prerequisite(s): Placement into ENG 101 ; or minimum grade “C” in one of the following: ENG 021  and ENG 099 , or ENG 022  and ENG 099 ; or the EAP course sequence ENG 078 , ENG 079 , ENG 088  and ENG 089 , or ENG 096 .
