NURS 122 - Concepts of Nursing I

This course utilizes the art and science of nursing, including the principles of the nursing process, QSEN competencies, and the NCSBN test plan to acquire knowledge, skills, and attitudes in the care of patients with basic health alterations. Some concepts include elimination, perfusion, gas exchange, cognition, coping, glucose and intracranial regulation. Students will gain knowledge in pharmacology related to specific disease processes. The clinical portion of the course continues the practice and application of assessment, communication, and select psychomotor skills in practice settings focusing on patients with basic health care needs. Prerequisites Admission into the nursing program. CPR certification, and CNA Certification required. BIO 250, BIO 251, BIO 240, COMM 101, ENG 101, HEAL 109, NURS 100, PSYC 101. All of the general education courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better prior to submitting a nursing application. A four-credit hour elective must be completed prior to graduation.
Concurrent NURS 112 with minimum grade of C, prior to or concurrently.
