NURS 222 - Concepts of Behavioral Health NursingCredit Hours 3 Lecture: 1.5 Lab: 4 This course utilizes the art and science of nursing including the principles of the nursing process, QSEN competencies, and the NCSBN test plan to assimilate knowledge, skills, and attitudes in the care of patients experiencing a variety of behavioral health conditions. Some concepts include mood and cognition, resilience, and maladaptive behavior. Students will gain knowledge in pharmacology related to specific disease processes. The clinical portion of this course focuses on providing care in psychiatric/behavioral health settings within the ethical and legal parameters of nursing. It continues the practice and application of assessment, communication, and psychomotor skills in practice settings focusing on the patient and family. Prerequisites NURS 132, NURS 142, minimum grade C. Concurrent NURS 212, minimum grade C, prior to or concurrent. Is course repeatable for credit?
