LTA 101 - Introduction to Library and Information StudiesCredit Hours 3 Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Explores the role of the Library Technical Assistant (LTA) in all areas of the library work. An overview of the tools and research methods used in libraries and in this program. Introduction to the history, ethics, and governance of libraries, in addition to the communication skills and techniques needed to build teams, handle complaints, resolve conflicts, and reach various users. Investigation of current and potential future roles for the LTA in serving its users. Prerequisites Placement testing into ENG 101 or minimum grade “C” in one of the following: ENG 021 and ENG 099 ;or the EAP course sequence ENG 079 and ENG 089 ; or ENG 096 .
