HIST 205 - French Revolution

This course will provide the student with an analysis of the major events of the French Revolution from 1789 to 1799. Topics covered will include: the origins of the Revolution in the society and government of Old Regime France and the major ideas of the Enlightenment; the major political, cultural and societal changes; and the impact that the French Revolution had upon the whole of Europe through war and the spread of liberal ideas. Prerequisites Placement into ENG 101 or minimum grade of “C” in one of the following: ENG 021 and ENG 099; or the EAP course sequence ENG 079 and ENG 089; or ENG 096. Recommended: HIST 106 or HIST 108 or consent of instructor.
