SPAN 101 - Elementary Spanish ILecture - Lab - Credit Hours: 4-0-4 This course is an introduction to basic elements of the Spanish language and cultural background of the Spanish-speaking world, offered for those who have had no Spanish or have had one year of high school Spanish. The emphasis is on the development of the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) in practical and realistic situations meaningful to beginning students. Prerequisite: Placement into ENG 101 or minimum grade of “C” in one of the following: ENG 021 and ENG 099 ; or ENG 022 and ENG 099 ; or the EAP course sequence ENG 079 and ENG 089 , or ENG 096 .
