Degree Requirements

The Computer Network Specialist Associate in Applied Sciences degree provides students with a diverse education in computers and networking which will prepare them for a variety of career options including network administrator, networking support technician, help desk support, networking engineers, and networking security, to name a few. 

The Network Specialist degree program provides students with exposure to a broad spectrum of computer and network related issues. Extensive hands-on use of the tools, methods, and software used in modern business computer environments is an integral part of many of the classes. This includes courses in the latest Windows client and server operating systems and Linux system software. The program also provides students with the opportunity to prepare for numerous highly regarded industry certifications from industry leaders Cisco, Microsoft, and CompTIA. These include certification prep classes on Windows server and client operating systems; Cisco routers; and CompTIA  Security+, A+, and Network+. These certifications provide students with an additional way to demonstrate their skills and knowledge to potential employers.

Current projections by the US Bureau of Labor statistics indicate that the networking field will grow much faster than the average for all occupations during the coming decade, and they project it will be among the fastest growing of all occupations. Job prospects in this field are excellent.
