  • You will gain a working knowledge of care and maintenance with a variety of tropical plants used in the interior plantscaping industry.
  • Graduates of JJC’s Floral Design/Interior Plantscaping program have gained skills in:
    • basic western, party and event work
    • care and handling of fresh cut materials
  • Jobs exist in:
    • retail floral shops
    • grocery store chains
    • wholesale floral supply operations
    • freelancing
    • You can also work in the interior grocery store chains, as well as in wholesale florals supply operations.
  • Entry level jobs include:
    • sales
    • design
    • plant care
    • These entry level jobs can lead to advancement as head designer, shop manager, supervisor/technician, buyer and plant specialist. You can also choose to own your own business.
  • Graduates of this program can also work in the interior plantscaping world as plant technicians and designers. In these jobs, you will install holiday designs, maintain indoor retail businesses and offer design services from a studio location.
  • You will complete 19 weeks of internship training at a floral or interior plantscaping job site as part of their program of study.
  • In addition to having the required skills, the key to employment in the floral design or plantscaping industries is to be a service-and people-oriented person. You must enjoy helping and working with other people.
  • The program is accredited through the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD).
  • JJC maintains memberships with the Illinois State Floral Association (IFSA), and Michigan Floral Association (MFA). These affiliations provide excellent educational opportunities for our students.
