VET 116 - Large Animal Nursing ICredit Hours 4.5 Lecture: 3 Lab: 3 Handling, restraint, and nursing techniques in horses, ruminants, and swine. Fundamentals involving live animal evaluation, management, nutrition, diseases and physiology of beef and dairy cattle, sheep, goats, swine, poultry, and horses.
Restraint, management, husbandry and nursing techniques in ruminants, horses, swine, and poultry. Lecture and lab descriptions of the various species’ special problems. Included are: ruminant, equine and swine physiology, diseases, physical evaluations, administration of medications and diagnosis sample gathering. Herd, band, and flock health, observations and medications are emphasized. Prerequisite: Admission to Veterinary Medical Technology Program. Is course repeatable for credit?
