VET 104 - Laboratory Animals

This class will cover an introduction to laboratory animal science. The lecture portion of the course will cover experimental methodology, laws and regulations, health and disease, environmental effects, and ethical perspectives on the use of animals in medical research. The focus will be on the veterinary technician’s responsibility to provide humane care and to be a liaison between scientist and animal. The lab portion of this course will offer a hands-on approach to basic techniques using common laboratory animals as models.
