CHEM 212 - Introduction to BiochemistryCredit Hours 3 Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Introduction to the chemical and physical properties of all classes of biological molecules and their assemblies including small molecules, macromolecules, and processes found in living organisms. Content includes structures of amino acids, nucleotides, lipids, and carbohydrates; corresponding macromolecular structures such as proteins, nucleic acids, membranes, and polysaccharides as related to their biological functions; kinetics and mechanism of enzymatic reactions, the central metabolic pathways, the genetic code and developments in biotechnology.
