CIS 124 - Computer Concepts and Applications

A complete introductory study of information systems, computer programming and application software is presented. Course topics include the elements of a business computer system, system analysis and design, Operating systems, program design and implementations along with various Web design techniques, Cloud Computing, Security, and privacy issues. This course also introduces the concepts, principles, and applications of computers as they apply to business. Students learn about several common software packages available for business applications. A thorough coverage of word processing, database management, spreadsheets and presentation software included. Internet based exercises are integrated throughout the course. An overview of management information systems is presented.  Ethics in Technology is discussed throughout by way of case studies and discussions. Prerequisite(s): none Corequisite(s): None
