FSCI 101 - Principles of Emergency ServicesLecture - Lab - Credit Hours: 3-0-3 This course provides an overview to fire protection; career opportunities in fire protection and related fields; philosophy and history of fire protection/services; fire loss analysis; organization and function of public and private fire protection services; fire departments as part of local government; laws and regulations affecting the fire services; fire service nomenclature; specific fire protection functions; basic fire chemistry and physics; introduction to fire protection systems; introduction to fire strategy and tactics. This course meets the FESHE Guidelines for Principles of Emergency Services. Prerequisite:
COMPASS placement into ENG 021 and ENG 099 , or the EAP course sequence ENG 078 and ENG 088 , or ENG 096 ; or minimum grade “C” in one of the following: ENG 020 and ENG 098 , or the EAP course sequence ENG 077 and ENG 087 . And COMPASS placement into MATH 098 ; or C or better in MATH 094 .
