The Associate of Applied Science in Marketing is designed and continually updated to reflect the constant changes in the business world. This program provides the individual with the education and training necessary for employment in the field of marketing or as a foundation to pursue additional study in the marketing field. The marketing student will learn a variety of marketing-related disciplines, including e-commerce, retailing, professional sales and advertising.

The marketing coursework prepares students for initial positions and opportunities such as retail sales, business-to-business sales, or various entry-level marketing and public relations positions within small to large-sized companies, government agencies, or non-profit organizations.

*This degree is not intended for students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a bachelor’s degree.  Students enrolled in this degree who are considering such transfer should consult a Business Department Advisor.

General Education Requirements: 22 Semester Hours


 Take 22 credit hours from the following groups:

Group I: Communications  - Take ENG 101 or ENG 130, and COMM 101 for a total of 6 credit hours in this category.

Students may substitute ENG 102 or ENG 230 for either of the above courses.

Group II: Social and Behavioral Sciences  - Take ECON 103 or ECON 107, and one additional course from this category for a total of 6 credit hours in this category

Group III: Humanities and Fine Arts  - Take a minimum of 3 credits hours in this category

Group IV: Math/Sciences  - Take one course from Math, and one course from Sciences for a total of 7 credit hours in this category

Total Required Hours: 64 Semester Hours
