The CyberSecurity AAS degree provides students with a diverse education in computers and networking with a primary focus on analyzing the configuring network and system security. The CyberSecurity degree provides exposure to a broad cross-section of computer and network security topics. It includes hands-on experience using the tools and methods used for configuring business systems to protect them from computer malware and other types of cyber attacks. In-depth analysis and hands-on exploration of advanced tools and topics relating to computer forensics and computer hacking are also a major part of the program.
The program also provides students with the opportunity to prepare for numerous highly regarded industry certifications from industry leaders Cisco, Microsoft, and CompTIA. These include certification prep classes on Windows server and client operating systems; Cisco routers; and CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, and CyberSecurity Analyst+. These certifications provide students with an additional way to demonstrate their skills and knowledge to potential employers.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that this field will be one of the fastest growing occupations during the coming decade. Job prospects in this field are excellent, especially since these jobs are less likely to be outsources than many other computer jobs.
