Veterinary Medical Technology, A.A.S.

This degree is designed for students who wish to become certified veterinary technicians (CVTs).
The program combines classroom learning with hands-on lab and clinical experience.
Both day and evening sections available.
You must start this program in the fall semester.
This program is fully accredited by the Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA) of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
JJC vet tech graduates are eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) for licensure in Illinois. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) administers the exam.

JJC’s program has a selective admissions process and limited enrollment.

- A minimum grade of “C” is required in the Vet Tech pre-requisite and program courses. Students are also required to obtain a physical examination and rabies virus vaccination prior to program start.
Students thinking about majoring in veterinary technology should make an appointment with a Vet Tech advisor as soon as possible.
First, apply to JJC. Then, apply to the vet tech program. Applications for the vet tech program can only be completed during the VMTP application period (March 1 - June 1).
