- This certificate is designed to train you to become a member of the veterinary team along with veterinary technicians, technologist and veterinarians.
- Veterinary Technician Assistants (VTAs) provide basic care to animals in:
- private practices
- animal shelters
- animal control facilities
- pet stores
- kennels
- laboratories
- The 250-hour program includes a 100-hour clinical externship (seminar) experience.
- If you successfully complete this certificate, you can choose to continue your studies and apply to earn a degree in veterinary technology at JJC
- The VTA certificate will:
- improve application ranking in the competitive entry vet tech program
- fulfill the veterinary medical terminology/medical terminology pre-requisite
- fulfill the VET 118 Animal Care I course within the vet tech program
