The Associate in Applied Science degree in radiologic technology (radiography) is designed for persons who wish to become entry-level radiographers (x-ray technologists). The program incorporates classroom and laboratory education on the Joliet Junior College Main Campus in conjunction with clinical practice at area community hospitals. A student who completes this program is eligible to sit for the national registry examination provided by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and is eligible to obtain state licensure anywhere within the United States. Entry-level radiographers perform a wide variety of diagnostic x-ray examinations and are eligible to gain further certifications in modalities such as mammography, interventional radiography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MR), bone densitometry, sonography, as well as many other post-primary certifications. The program follows the radiography curriculum developed by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT).
NOTE: Radiologic Technology students must achieve a minimum grade of “C” in each of the Radiologic Technology courses and all of the general education courses before they are eligible for graduation. This program has a selective admission process. |
