OPT 106 - Orthotic Prosthetic Skill DevelopmentCredit Hours 4 Lecture: 2 Lab: 4 The course is designed to develop the necessary skills to perform basic technological processes within the profession of orthotics and prosthetics. Emphasis will be placed upon the following basic skills; Plaster work, plastic fabrication, both thermosetting and thermoformed, concepts of metal contouring, leather working including sewing concepts, and finishing skills. The course will include laboratory projects to introduce students to basic skills and knowledge they require to become orthotic prosthetic technicians. Fundamentals of the use of various fixtures and alignment devices specific to orthotics and prosthetics will be covered.
