EMS 201 - Emergency Medical Technician-Basic

Lecture - Lab - Credit Hours: 4-2-5
Care, handling and extrication of the critically ill and injured. Topics covered include airway management, patient assessment, vital signs, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, lifting and moving patients, documentation, communication, pharmacology, and cardiac emergencies. Meets the requirements of the National DOT curricula. No proficiency or independent study.Prerequisite: EMS 101  with a “C” or better, and, placement into ENG 101 ; or minimum grade of “C” in one of the following: ENG 021  and ENG 099 ; or the EAP course sequence ENG 078 , ENG 079 , ENG 088  and ENG 089 ; or ENG 096 .  Must be 18 years of age, and have a high school diploma or GED and a current CPR for health care card or equivalent (includes infant, child, adult choking and CPR.
