The Culinary Arts Department at JJC is recognized as one of the premier culinary and educational training programs in the nation and is known around the world as a leader in culinary and food service education. Serving both the degree-seeking student as well as the industry professional seeking to upgrade their technical or supervisory skills, our American Culinary Federation accredited program offers an A.A.S. Degree in culinary arts as well as several certificates to prepare students for success in a wide variety of food service industry and baking and pastry careers.

The Baking and Pastry Certificate of Completion offers a wide variety of technical courses related specifically to the baking and pastry arts. Students interested in pursuing a career as a pastry cook, baker, pastry chef, wedding cake designer, bakery or patisserie owner/operator, or even a chef who also wants to have a strong background in pastry and baking are ideal candidates for this certificate of completion. The program includes two of the core baking and pastry lab courses from the Culinary Arts Associates Degree, the food service sanitation manager certification course, and then a wide variety of specialized pastry and baking courses to choose from to complete the certificate. Since students are able to choose three courses from the many different pastry and baking course offerings to complete the degree, the certificate of completion can be tailored to meet the specific interests, technical skills, and career objectives of each student.
