Joliet Junior College’s Intensive English for Academic Purposes (IEAP) provides academic language instruction for students whose native language is not English to prepare them for further academic study, employment, professional advancement, and personal enrichment. Courses in the IEAP are offered in the following topics: American culture, grammar, language laboratory, listening & speaking, reading and writing. All courses are approved by the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB).

While there are four levels of the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) curriculum, only Level 3 and Level 4 are considered part of the IEAP program.

F-1 Visa Students in the IEAP Program must:

· Meet the minimum English proficiency scores (TOEFL iBT 45+ or IELTS 5.0+) for admission

· Be enrolled in 18 credit hours at all times

· Maintain a 90% attendance rate in each of their IEAP courses
