The Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters has entered into a partnership agreement with Joliet Junior College. The program equates college credit to the apprenticeship courses and works individually with the apprentice or journey person to obtain the Associate in General Studies degree. JJC will award 30 hours of college credit toward an Associate of General Studies degree to participants who successfully complete the Apprenticeship Program. Students will participate in 14 hours of internship courses and an additional 20 credit hours of general education courses must be completed at Joliet Junior College in order for the degree to be awarded, including traditional, on-line, or blended courses. This is a closed program and students must be a member in good standing with the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters. Members interested in this opportunity should contact John Horak, Assistant Coordinator at the Apprentice Training Center at 847-640-7373 for additional information. The Carpenters Apprenticeship Program is being offered in conjunction with the JJC Technical department.
