EMS 101 - First Responder/EMRCredit Hours 4 Lecture: 3.5 Lab: 1 This course contains lecture and hands-on skills. In Illinois, the First Responder/Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) uses a limited amount of equipment to perform an assessment and complete stabilizing interventions until the arrival of EMT’s and/or paramedics. Upon successful completion, adult students will be eligible to receive EMR licensure from the Illinois Department of Public Health. This course is a required prerequisite to the JJC Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course. Prerequisite(s): Minimum placement into ENG 098 and ENG 020, or higher level English placement via ACT/SAT/PSAT or HS GPA per current JJC placement policies. Is course repeatable for credit?
