CIP Code: 43.0203

The Fire Science and EMS program combines EMS training, firefighter certification and a liberal arts education to assure maximum employability. Graduates of the program go on to professional careers in the fire service as cross-trained firefighter/EMT’s and firefighter/paramedics.  A 21st century firefighter battles fewer flames than previous generations while pre-hospital emergency care takes up more of their day.  They still train hard to extinguish fires, save lives and teach the public about fire safety. The salary and benefits for a career firefighter/paramedic vary. Current salaries increasingly reflect the respect this profession holds in both public safety and healthcare.
